WANTED: SOMEONE TO LIVE ON AND CARE FOR A BEAUTIFUL, IF QUITE ISOLATED, SCOTTISH ISLAND FOR EIGHT MONTHS.
Craggy landscapes, rolling hills, all the history you can take. Scotland is offering £20k for someone to manage the beautiful, isolated Inchcolm Island.
Perfect if you like large medieval abbeys - you'll be living next to one - total tranquility and pencil sharpeners (the only place to buy things is the Abbey gift shop) but maybe more challenging if you don't like being alone. While there's internet connection, amenities and a TV there's also nobody else living there apart from one other Monument Manager.
However, if you fancy a massive change and a serene break from city (or even town) life then this is ideal.
Just make sure you don't go all Tom Hanks in Castaway.
WANTED: SOMEONE TO WORK ON ROOVES, SCRAPING AND DEMOLITION OF BUILDINGS FOR 19P BELOW MINIMUM WAGE
Today not only was this heavy-duty job advertised on Jobcentre Plus in Polish but, for those who could translate, the position was £6-an-hour. Oddly, the papers are focusing on the fact it was written in Polish as opposed to the fact that this hard labour job pays less than working in Mcdonalds. Which is apparently a great place to work now, but still. Asking someone if they'd like fries with that is hardly demolishing buildings...
The ad was removed from the government job site, as well as CV-Library.co.uk soon after.
