It’s been nearly three months since we launched GoThinkBig, our one-stop shop for work opportunities and career advice for young people trying to get on the first steps of the career ladder. We launched the site with three brilliant regular bloggers – The Eternal Intern (Scott Bryan who, within weeks of starting his hilarious, insightful blog, was an intern no more and now works full-time at The Times), The Prudent Student (Louise Jones, who’s been awfully candid about the rollercoaster of emotions she’s experienced during her first term at uni in Bournemouth) and The Hipster Tipster (Stevie Martin, who delivers money-saving tips in a far more entertaining manner than that Martin Lewis bloke, and is now, as of this week, a full-time Staff Writer at GoThinkBig).

We’ve found that these blogs, with their blend of advice and humour, are some of the most popular features on the site, and so we want more. And that’s where you come in.

If you’re a fantastic, funny writer who could commit to writing a weekly post for GoThinkBig, then we want to hear from you.

Your blog should be themed around a particular angle or come from a specific point of view, just like the ones we currently run – for example, perhaps you’re a young single mum who’s desperately trying to balance parenting with getting on the career ladder, or an unemployed graduate who’s sick of living at home, or an aspiring entrepreneur trying to make their fortune… anything like that is right up our street, as long as it’s packed with funny anecdotes, emotional insight and useful advice. The most important thing is, you will have enough original ideas to write for us every week.  Make us laugh, make us cry, make us, er, poke ourselves in the eye (because we’re so jealous of how great you are, yeah?).

If you think you’ve got what it takes and have the time to write a weekly blog, read on! Good luck!

How to enter and criteria:

Please write a blog post of no more than 500 words on the subject of your choice (it should be related to careers, unemployment, academia… all the stuff we cover on the site) (the “Blog Post”).

•In addition, please also send us a brief paragraph explaining: (i) who you are, (ii) your age and where you’re at in your life, (iii) why you think GoThinkBig needs your voice, (iv) plus a link to your Twitter page and/or existing blog, if you have one (the “Personal Blog”).

•Email the above to gothinkbig@bauermedia.co.uk. You must make sure that you include the words “Blogger comp” in the subject line of the email.

•All entries must be received by 5pm on Friday, January 18th. Entries that are sent after this time will not be considered.

You must be over 18 to enter, resident in the UK and must not be a current employee of Bauer Media or Telefonica UK Limited.

Selection process

The entries will be judged by a panel of senior editorial staff at Bauer Consumer Media Limited (“Bauer”), (one of the partners of GoThinkBig), who will select the five entries which (in the panel’s sole discretion) are the most compelling.

These five entries will be uploaded on the GoThinkBig site from January 21st onwards. We will then ask the public to vote for their favourite entry. On Friday 1st February the public vote will be closed and the person with the most votes will be announced on the site on Monday 4th February. We will also contact this person (the winner) via email to let them know that they have won and to make any final arrangement for starting the blog-writing position.

The prize

The winning blogger will be asked to write a weekly blog for the GoThinkBig site for six weeks from February and will also be paid £20 per blog post.  We will not be responsible for paying any additional expenses incurred by the winner in connection with the prize.

The winner may be required to sign a writer’s agreement with Bauer before they start to write their first prize blog. Failure to comply with the terms of this writer’s agreement, may result in Bauer revoking the prize.

We may store copies of your entries for future exploitation or promotional purposes in connection with GoThinkBig. If the winner is not able to meet the team at this time or at any other time we notify them of, we may be forced to offer the prize to the person who received the second highest number of votes. We will not be liable if the prize cannot be taken by the winner for any reason.
